I've been looking for a shampoo bar that will suit my whole family (1 curly haired, 3 straight haired, one oily, one dry and all fine haired!) and I've found it. The herbal scent is lovely.

I found your site via Sophie's sustainably lazy web site last week, at the peak of despair with hard water / curly and now claggy hair from a high street shampoo bar (despite weeks of trying to persevere). One wash in with your citrus shampoo bar, and my hair is feeling so soft and clean, I'm over the moon, thank you!! A lovely product from an independent retailer - win win!

Lovely product. I don’t really need conditioner anymore! I’ve been using Hairy Jayne solid shampoo bars for years now and don’t intend to change.

Been using solid shampoos for many years, although for a while I didn't realise what was marketed as solid shampoo was actually soap (i.e. saponified fats and oils). It was fine at home with our softened water but whenever I went anywhere else and the water was harder I was left with a sticky residue on my hair. It also caused the colour in my hair to fade quickly. Fast forward to discovering Hairy Jayne and all these fabulous products. The shampoo bar is genuinely a shampoo (not a soap) and leaves my hair feeling clean but not stripped, shiny and healthy. My colour stays true with little fading or loss of vibrancy even with daily washing. I have the herbal scented one which I absolutely love - it smells like a spa! I used to sometimes get a dry scalp and flaky skin but that no longer happens ever with this product. Oh, and I also 'reverse wash' with this and a different conditioner - a technique I discovered in Jayne's blog for fine or straight hair. This has been a total game changer for me - sounds dramatic but it's true!

This is the best shampoo bar I've ever tried (and I've tried so many!). I've been wanting to switch to solid shampoo for ages, but every other bar I've tried ended up leaving residue, making my hair look and feel gross. This one doesn't, has a lovely, silky feel, smells great and lathers up beautifully. Just keep it away from water in between washes. Amazing product, thank you very much!

I’ve been using this shampoo bar since 2020 circa (not the same bar, obviously!) and it leaves my hair so soft, shiny, fluffy and full of volume. I alternate between different shampoo and each time I go back to this bar because it makes my hair feel better than any other shampoo I use. I have fine hair so this works so well for me. I will agree with some of the previous reviews on how it lathers, it can take quite a bit of product to lather up well into the hair and it does lose its shape quite quickly and breaks into parts. Not sure how it can be improved but please don’t change the recipe too much as it makes my hair feel long and luscious. I’m about to purchase another bar now as we speak 🙂

The shampoo bar leaves my hair feeling clean and nice, but I find it quite difficult to use. I have to apply a lot of pressure to get it to lather, and unfortunately, that causes a noticeable amount of hair to fall out each time. The bar also loses its shape quickly and ends up melting in a pool of water—I keep it in a ceramic dish, so maybe I need the soap holder sold on the website, but it's a bit pricey. For context, I’m Asian with straight, fine black hair. According to the instructions, I might need to use conditioner before applying the shampoo bar. However, I’ve never needed conditioner before, and it’s not a cheap addition. Overall, I don’t hate using this shampoo bar—it does its basic job—and I think I will keep trying it for a few months, but I think there’s definitely room for improvement.

The bars are small and soft so don't last well.

I've only tried a few shampoo bars but these are my go to! I love the way they make my hair feel after washing and the scents are great. I usually go for the Citrus but I've had a few of the others when it's been out of stock - they're all nice scents but Citrus is my favourite.
They lather wonderfully, I definitely find it works best for me rubbing the bar between my hands then applying to my scalp, but your mileage may vary. I do have to note that I don't use conditioner, I haven't for years and my hair is fine without it if I double wash - the bars last me about 4/5 months with the double wash every 4/5 days or so. The bars last longer if I use my bottled shampoo as the first wash (trying to get it used up so I can get rid of it).
I do love the difference options of wrapping, the tin, the box or naked, I've been choosing naked to try to be a little more sustainable, but I did grab a tin for travel once.
Highly recommend trying these, I know they have small tester ones available if you're unsure.

Left my hair shiny and clean and was easy to use. One small quibble. Faded my hair colour slightly. Maybe my fault for buying the citrus one.

I bought the sample kit and enjoyed using the shampoo bar so decided to try the full size. Not only can you get it with minimal packaging but it lets me go longer between hair washes. Going very well so far. Would recommend.

I have been using this shampoo bar for about four years now and absolutely love it. I have very fine, dry hair and the shampoo bar lathers easily and cleans it beautifully, while never drying my hair out. It actually conditions it quite a bit, reducing how frequently I need to condition my hair. One bar lasts me about six months.

This was my first experience of using a shampoo, I am so so chuffed! It leaves no film on my hair but doesn't leave it feeling stripped either.

I've since used the shampoo bar a couple of times and continued to achieve the same result. I will be purchasing
