Of course big business has a lot to answer for when it comes to the issue of plastic waste, but luckily we know of some smaller indie beauty brands that are producing lovely zero waste beauty products in a very sustainable way.
1. Lucky Cloud Skincare
Founder Lucy makes award winning skincare that is not only in sustainable packaging but is healing for sensitive and painful eczema prone skin, which she has suffered with herself.
Handmade here in Bristol, Lisa’s range of plastic free products is 100% natural, organic and vegan. She says “Your skin is the biggest organ on the body and to us, healthy living isn’t just about what you put inside your body, it’s what you put ON your body too”
The UK’s first palm-oil free company, and their products are plastic free too. Their award winning products are vegan, cruelty free and handmade in Cornwall.
Shade make an award winning, natural sunscreen in a tin. It’s SPF25, is moisturising and is made with only 4 natural ingredients.
Based in Margate and inspired by the ocean, sustainability has always been part of Haeckels’ philosophy.
6. The Soap Co.
Based in East London, The Soap Co. creates life-changing job opportunities for people who are blind, disabled or otherwise disadvantaged. Their bottles are made from old milk bottles, the soap wrappers are compostable and they have a plastic-free collection made from aluminium.
7. Tabitha Eve
Debbie, Tabitha Eve’s founder, started her own personal war against wastefulness and plastic pollution when travelling and diving the seas of Borneo, and has created a range of plastic free reusable items for the bathroom that are usually single use.
8. Mr Blackman’s
Mr Blackman makes multipurpose ’no fuss’ grooming products for men and believes that products don’t need to be complicated. The all natural, vegan products smell great and have minimal zero waste packaging that is easily recycled.
