PRESS RELEASE 14th June 2023
Bristol Hair Care Brand Hairy Jayne Wins Double Silver at European Skincare Award
Bristol-based Hairy Jayne Handmade Hair Care has won not one, but two, Silver awards in the Hair Care Category of the twelfth annual Free From Skincare Awards. Their Herbal Shampoo Bar and Natural Beauty Oil both nabbed second place in the Europe-wide Awards.
The Awards were founded to reward manufacturers of cosmetic products that are ‘free from’ many of the allergens, preservatives, additives and fragrances associated with skin sensitivities, allergies, and ethical, environmental and health concerns.
"I‘m so pleased that both of our entries into the awards have done so well,” says Jayne Rutland, founder of Hairy Jayne. “It’s lovely getting the feedback that my formulations are both effective and soothing for sensitive skin."
The announcements were made on Tuesday 13th June following a long testing process by four experienced cosmetic testers and a round-table expert judging session, held in May. Not the first Free From Skincare Awards for Hairy Jayne, having previously won Gold for their Citrus Shampoo Bar in 2020 and Gold for their refillable Treatment Conditioner in 2021.
Jayne Rutland founded Hairy Jayne after a long career in hairdressing, during which time she developed an allergy to PPD, a synthetic ingredient found in hair dyes. It set her on a mission to learn all that she could about formulating natural products.
Sustainability is also important to Jayne. Her product range comes in zero waste packaging, is highly biodegradable, naturally fragranced, cruelty free and vegan.
Hairy Jayne handmade hair care is available online from www.hairyjaynehandmade.co.uk (collection is available from Hairy Jayne headquarters in Totterdown) and is stocked at Prior Shop, Cabot Circus.
